DETAILS

Ready to chase some summer magic? Join NJIT’s Dr. Caroline DeVan at Teaneck Creek for an evening of glowing exploration! We are diving into the fascinating, flashing world of fireflies — learning who they are, how to spot them, and what we can do to protect their summer light shows. But we won’t just be watching — we're taking action! Together, we will count the fireflies right here at Teaneck Creek and upload our discoveries to the Firefly Atlas Community Watch. Your night out will directly help scientists map and protect these incredible insects! What to Bring: A glass jar (with plenty of breathing holes punched in the lid!) A headlamp with a red-light setting (No red setting? No sweat! Bring a regular flashlight and we'll help you modify it on-site) Free. All ages. Light rain or shine. Registrants will be notified by email if the program is canceled. Some trail sections are challenging for strollers. No restrooms available. Registration recommended.
